Methods

The UK Stem Cell Bank has adopted a policy whereby the Master Cell Banks are prepared using methodologies consistent with those developed by the Depositor.  The UKSCB takes account of current developments in stem cell banking when preparing its Distribution Cell Banks (i.e. those distributed to researchers).  However, these are prepared as far as possible by standard methodologies.

Protocols detailed here are divided into four categories: banking, cryopreservation and storage, characterisation and safety testing.  Each category is further sub-divided by cell line.  Many of the protocols listed have been provided by third parties.  The Bank does not accept responsibility either for the completeness or the effectiveness of these protocols.

Further information and technical queries should be submitted in the first instance to the Bank through the Contact us section
