Review of UKSCB Charging Policy
No charges for Stem Cell Lines.
The Management Committee at its May 2009 meeting reviewed the current policy on charging. The policy of providing stem cell lines free of charge was re-affirmed for a further period. Transportation cost will continue to be recovered from customers.
New Website
A fresh look to the UKSCB Website
The Bank is finalising an upgrade to provide a more interactive and comprehensive website. The new look website will include an online process for completing the Steering Committee application forms and increased information in and a search function for the Bank’s Stem Cell Catalogue. The new website will be active in the autumn of this year.
A Permanent Home for the UK Stem Cell Bank.
A major new facility to house the UK Stem Cell Bank
Construction of a permanent home for the UK Stem cell Bank is well underway. The new facility will occupy the first floor of the new laboratory block being built at NIBSC. The new bank will include 5 enlarged GMP cleanrooms for banking stem cell lines one of which will be available for use by the stem cell community. The new Bank includes research and quality control laboratories and storage facilities for the Bank’s stem cell lines. The facility is on schedule for completion at the end of 2009.
