The Bank had start up meetings for two new EC FP7 projects which will help to develop its activity in alternative testing for toxicology. The first project, ScreenTox, will develop differentiation protocols and scale up procedures for high throughput screening using pluripotent stem cell lines. UKSCBs role will be to bank and supply selected stem cell lines. The second project called Toxbank will provide a toxicology bank of compounds and a ‘data warehouse’  that will collate data from partners in the alternative testing cluster of projects including ScreenTox. The role of UKSCB in Toxbank will be to set up the cell lines/protocols elements of the database and compile a qualified registry of cell suppliers.
