Research

In order to avoid conflicts of interest, the Code of Practice developed by the Steering Committee specifically states that the UK Stem Cell Bank will not conduct discovery research on stem cell lines deposited in the Bank.  This is interpreted as requiring the Bank to avoid research in basic stem cell biology and "near-market" commercial research.

The Bank is encouraged to undertake research in cell banking, cryopreservation, stem cell characterisation and safety testing.  In these areas, the Bank has developed active research partnerships with both academic groups and commercial organisations and can provide a generic work-package for those seeking collaborations with the Bank.

Information on current research activities and a list of publications involving staff from the Bank can be in the menu on the left.
