Depositing EUTCD stem cell lines

Depositing EUTCD-grade stem cell lines

You will find a step by step guide to depositing EUTCD-grade stem cell lines on the How to deposit Stem Cells in the UK Stem Cell Bank page and under the relevant pages by clicking on the relevant section in the sidebar.

The development of cellular therapies in the UK requires stem cell lines that are compliant with the EU Tissue and Cell Directives as laid down in Human Tissue Authority regulations for the quality and safety of tissues and cells for human application. As part of the accession procedure, the UKSCB undertakes a Due Diligence process on all cell lines accepted for deposit in the Bank by the UK Steering Committee, that are intended for human application by their depositors. This is the first step in an assessment process that will eventually lead to the production of cell lines in the UK that have been derived, banked, tested and stored in accordance with the HTA requirements which will qualify them as ‘EUTCD-Grade’.

Further relevant information together with progress on procuring "EUTCD-grade" lines can be found by going to the Due Diligence page.

At the present time, the Bank is only able to accept UK derived EUTCD-grade stem cell lines.  However, the UKSCB will in the future consider the application of this process to overseas lines provided that applications have been approved by the UK Steering Committee.
